Working at NORM+DREH

Family business since 1973, run in the third generation.

Since 1991 we have worked on our own premises on Mettmanner Straße in Velbert. Many in the team have been with us for decades.

We supply turned parts, special screws, standard parts and thread locking products to industry, most of it from blanket orders running over months. In the age of AI, there is still a person on the phone here, and we do not want to change that.

Success counts as a team, not individually

If the team does well, you earn your share.

Our structure is lean, and pay here is based on everyone's success, not on an internal ranking. That is why someone will help you out here even when they have enough on their own plate, the management included.

‍

On top of that, you see the whole path of an order with us, from the quotation through sampling to delivery, and you learn more along the way than in a large company. If you like that and would rather ask one question too many, you are in the right place with us.

Five areas, one complete order.

In purchasing, you obtain quotations, compare them technically and commercially and track the dates all the way into our warehouse. In inside sales, you clarify the drawing with the customer before it becomes a quotation. This is technical sales, not selling over the phone.

‍

In quality assurance, you inspect incoming goods and keep together the DIN EN ISO 9001 documentation that goes out with the goods. In the warehouse and logistics, you receive shipments and get our customers' call-offs ready for dispatch. Administration is where everything the others set in motion comes together.

Much of what makes a company is not written in any job advert.

In the 2009 crisis, everyone stayed

When orders collapsed, the company kept the whole team, without short-time work. That is why a 40-year service anniversary is nothing unusual here.

Career changers learn the ropes here

A matching qualification is not a requirement here. What you need to know about fasteners, you learn on real orders and from colleagues who have been here a long time.

You learn the language of the drawing

Material, tolerance, surface and quantity decide what a component costs and when it arrives. After a few months, you can read that from any drawing.

You are trained by people

You sit next to someone who knows the item master by heart, and you get as many weeks for your induction as you need. Questions are expressly welcome.

You know in the morning when your day ends

We work fixed hours, without shifts and without weekend duty, and part-time is possible too. If you pick up your child at half past three, you do not have to justify it here.

AI tools support our team

AI tools support our team at almost every workstation – particularly in purchasing, sales and quality assurance.

Frequently asked questions

What applicants ask us most often.

01

Can I start as a career changer?

Yes. You do not learn fastening technology at school, but on the orders that are currently running. What you should bring is care with numbers and the habit of asking one question too many rather than one too few.

02

How does the application process work?

You send us a few lines about yourself, and they go straight to the management. We will get back to you in any case, even if there is no vacancy at the moment, and we then clarify the rest on the phone.

03

What are the working hours?

We work fixed hours, without shifts and without weekend duty, and part-time is not a special case here. Since 2021 our connection has been expanded so that, depending on the position, you can also work from home.

04

How does the induction work?

From day one you work on real orders, next to someone who knows the item master. How long the induction takes depends on you and not on a fixed plan.

05

What do you expect when I start?

That you ask instead of guessing, and say early on when something is not working. Otherwise, what everyone here does: see the job through and help a colleague when they are stuck.
